Pinturas Impresionistas de mi Abuelo en Ebay

Mi tío encontró varias pinturas impresionistas de mi abuelo en E-bay. El se llamaba Hans Mertins pero solía firmar sus obras bajo su seudónimo Juan Mertins. Fue un artista relativamente conocido en San Francisco durante la epoca de los 1920’s, trabajo en varias películas silentes creando escenografías durante la época de oro de Hollywood.

Las pinturas subastadas en Ebay tenían su firma en la parte de atrás. Este cuadro fue exhibido en Golden Gate International Exposition (GGIE) de 1939, la cual fue celebrada en Treasure Island San Francisco para la inauguración de los dos puentes de la Ciudad. La feria comenzó en Febrero 18 y termino el 29 Octubre de 1939, y del 25 Mayo hasta el 29 de Septiembre de 1940.

    I have a watercolor signed “Guatemala-Juan Mertin”. I spoke to his sister in-law at her estate sale where I purchased the painting in 1988. She did tell me that he worked at the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939 and was forced to return to Argentina when WWII started since they had sided with Germany and he was an Argentine citizen. His wife never saw him again. It’s a beautiful painting of a landscape in Guatemala. Regards
